Winthrop Art Association Newsletter

 
The WAA invites members and the Winthrop Community to join us for our “Winter Workshop” on Tuesday evening, March 6, 2012 at 7:30 in the E.B. Newton Cultural Center.  Please bring your own art supplies such as pencils, charcoals, inks, watercolor etc. and we will have a still life and model to work with.

The WAA meetings are now held at the new cultural center at the E.B. Newton School, 45 Pauline St., Winthrop.  If you have any questions contact Dawn at 617-846-2644.

April Meeting will be John Munson.  He will give a demonstration on using your camera and how to take photographs.  This demo will take place at his studio.  Beacon photography, 185 Winthrop St., Winthrop.  The demonstration will start at 7:30 PM.

THE SPRING ART FESTIVAL is around the corner.  The dates this year are April 28th and 29th.

We will have the Festival in our new location at the Cultural Center.

The space is very limited. 
Crafters will also have to bring their own tables and coverings. 
We will be able supply chairs for each table.

For raffle tickets.  The raffle tickets are $1 each and 6 for $5.  We send these tickets for you to buy and to sell, to pay for the festival.  There are several donated prizes plus $100, $50 and $25.

We will be looking for volunteers to set-up the grids, hang the paintings and etc. We need to call upon our membership for help!  Call 617-846-2644.

“The Many Ways of Dawn”

Dawn Mahoney has an exhibit at the Clock Tower Gallery, at the E.B. Newton Cultural Center (address above).  The days and hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 6-8PM and 
Saturdays 2-5PM.  Closing reception, Sunday, March 11th 3-7PM.  All are welcome.  For information, contact Dawn at 617-846-2644.

Members Who Give Art Lessons

Robert Farris – is offering Oil Painting classes at his Woodend Studio.  Call him at 781-593-2122.

Dawn Mahoney – Lessons for children and adults of Basic Art/All Media.  The cost is $20 for one and a half hours.
Dawn also has an art classes at the
Senior Center at 35 Harvard St., Winthrop on Thursday, 10AM – 12PM and Friday, 1 – 3PM. The cost of these classes is only $6 because it is a Senior Center Offering.  Call Dawn if interested at 617-846-2644.

The WAA now has memorial or in honor of cards available again to our members.  They are one dollar each and may be purchased from Beverly Brody Barisano, 617-846-5305.  They are a good idea to support the WAA as well as a great convenience to have on hand.
