Dawn Mahoney attracted a full house for our April meeting; she gave a demonstration in the “Fundamentals of Drawing.” Even our most experienced artists enjoyed this.
Our annual “Spring Art Festival” in April was a well-attended success.

Saturday, July 9th-“Paint The Beach!”
In the past few years the WAA has been doing this in conjunction with the DCR, “Back To The Beaches,” This year the WAA is gathering on the Beach on Shore Drive to spend a day doing Art and inviting people join in to paint of shells, etc. Artists will be there painting and sharing knowledge of art techniques. We will gathering across the street from Nevada St., (across from Rossetti’s Restaurant) on Shore Drive, from 9am to 1pm. If you are interested in joining the WAA at the beach for a day of art Dawn at 617-846-2644 to sign-up.
July Art in French Square will be on Saturday, July 16th. If you would like to set-up at table contact Dawn Mahoney at 617-846-2644. This event is free to all paid up members.
Art at Crest Ave. Park, Crest Ave., Winthrop Highlands will be on Saturday, August 13th. Contact is same as above.

Frank Costantino is doing a number of seminars one of which is Plein-Air Workshop, sponsored by Charles River Conservancy, Boston, MA, June 3-5, 2011 – Friday, Saturday, & Sunday – Charles River Basin, Boston & Cambridge. Dottie Doucette is selling a Gloucester easel and she would like $200 for it. Also, she has another out door large easel for $75, also leaded glass ceiling lamp cone shaped for $100. (The Gloucester easels sell for around $350 new) if interested call Dottie at 1-978-531-2674.

Dawn Mahoney – Basic Art/All Media 617-846-2644. Dawn has also started an art class on Fridays, from 1-3 PM at the Senior Center at 35 Harvard St., Winthrop. The cost of this class is only $6 because it a Senior Center Offering. Call Dawn if interested.
The E.B. Newton School, Pauline St., Winthrop. This building is a historical site and has been designated as a cultural center for the town.
The WAA has a room to store our property (easels, grids, etc.) We also have display space in the main hallways of the buildings first floor. This is an opportunity for members only. Your contact people are Beverly Barisano at 617-846-5305 or Brenda Curry at 617-846-5375. The Board of Directors is now displaying their work now.
There is also an art gallery on the first floor run by the Winthrop Cultural Council. The Clock Tower Gallery) The Gallery is seeking submissions of work with a “Summer Theme” for display this summer. Please send electronic copy of your work with yur contact information to firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for submission is June 18, 2011. The show will run July 8,2011 through August 26, 2011. For all requests and information for this exhibit contact Joanne Hillman at the above email. The WAA does not select or do the hanging in the Clock Tower Gallery.
This is for the summer, at the Rocky Neck Art Colony in Gloucester (the oldest working art colony in the country). Khan Studio and the Good Morning Gloucester Gallery will be offering 2-week rotating guest artist exhibits in the Gallery at 77 Rocky Neck (Near Madfish Grill, The Rudder and The Studio Restaurants).

The Greater Lynn Arts & Crafts Spring Show was held on the weekend of May 14 & 15. Several of our WAA members entered and won ribbons in all categories.
