Tuesday, October 7th  “Meet & Greet”  at the Cultural Center to open this year’s season.  There will be light refreshments and time to meet the board and discuss the upcoming year.

Tuesday, October 14th “Demonstration”.  Our own WAA member Gale Dwyer will be the Guest presenter for the Fall Demonstration.  Gale will show her amazing quilt techniques. Don’t miss this exciting demo.

Meetings are held at the E.B. Newton Cultural Center, 45 Pauline St., at 7:30 on the first floor.  

 

October Day Trip

We will be going to Mystic Seaport in Mystic, CT on Sunday October 5th.  The cost of this trip will be $58.

Dawn Mahoney – Art lessons from the beginning! Learn many mediums.  All ages’ welcome.  Call her at 617-846-2644.  Dawn also teaches art at the Senior Center in Winthrop.

Member Chuck Guest received “Best in Show” for his portfolio on September 20th at the Art Show at the Malden River Festival held at the Park at River’s Edge in Medford, MA.  The judging was on each entrants’ entire portfolio not individual piece.

The Clock Tower Gallery Exhibit

 “Monsters Who Don’t Know They’re Monsters” will run from October 1 to October 31, 2014 at the Clock Tower Gallery, EB Newton Cultural Center.  Meet the Artist Reception, October 25th 1:00 – 4:00 PM.  This is Rhode Island-based artist Jason Freeman’s first solo exhibit in MA. This exhibit will showcase dozens of colorful character portraits from his folio of over 1,000 Monsters…who don’t know they’re monsters.  Gallery hours: Thursday, 6-8pm and Saturday 2-4pm.

WAA dues are $25 per year.  Send your dues to Dawn Mahoney, 49 Bartlett Rd., Winthrop, MA 02152.  Make checks payable to the Winthrop Art Association.
